Recent graduates from The University of South Dakota are having success finding jobs. According to information released by USD’s Career Development Center, 97 percent of graduates from The U found employment or attended graduate school in 2008.
DSU announces 95 percent placement
Dakota State University student placement rates showed 95 percent securing employment in their designated fields of study or furthering their education in that field. The percentage of graduates accepting employment in South Dakota increased dramatically, from 74 percent to 80 percent. The average entry salary for 2008 graduates is $33,189. Minnehaha County named among best places to raise family
Minnehaha County, SD, was ranked the 18th best place in the nation to raise a family in a forbes.com report. The listing for Minnehaha, which includes Sioux Falls, mentioned the county’s low median home price of $138,600 and the shortest commute time of any community on the list of 15.5 minutes.
South Dakota is #1 in Freedom Study
South Dakota has assumed the notable spot as the nation's most economically free state according to the U.S. Economic Freedom Index 2008 Report released by the Pacific Research Institute. The Index scores states based on 143 variables, including regulatory and fiscal obstacles imposed on businesses and residents. New York ranked 50th.

The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City has been named one of America's 100 Best College Buys for the 11th consecutive year by Institutional Research & Evaluation, Inc., a research and consulting organization that specializes in the recruiting and retention of students for universities.
Rapid City named one of "The Next Great Adventure Towns"
Rapid City has been named one of The Next Great Adventure Towns by the National Geographic Adventure Magazine. The magazine listed Rapid City as one of 50 best places in the nation to live and play. It is among 12 cities representing the central region. Criteria are determined by the town's prime location, future plans, outdoor adventure, job variety, cultural activities and green space.
South Dakota Named to Top 10 for Business
The Pollina Report recently named South Dakota the sixth best pro-business state in a comparative evaluation of job creation and retention efforts of all 50 state governments and the federal government. Rising from seventh position last year, the state has been in the top 10 for the fifth year in a row.
